Oxford Investment Opportunity Network Limited (OION Ltd) is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under reference number 564525. OION Ltd operates the below three Investment Networks which combined aim to provide investors with the widest possible range of investment opportunities, both in terms of stage of development and capital requirements. OION Ltd is Oxford based but with a nationwide focus and will therefore consider opportunities from across the UK.
In January 2020, Oxford Angel Network (OAN), part of Oxford University’s commercialisation arm Oxford University Innovation (OUI), merged with OION Ltd combining operations to create one unified angel network for Oxford and beyond. Access to finance for growth is critical to starting and scaling ground-breaking tech companies. This merger will contribute significantly to strengthening the appeal of the Oxford Cluster as a great place for companies to flourish. It is a vital step towards realising Oxfordshire’s potential, as expressed in the Local Industrial Strategy, of becoming one of the leading innovation ecosystems worldwide.
OION Ltd and OUI will collaborate in the selection of companies to be invited to pitch at seven annual investor showcase events. The merger of the two networks will give both new and existing angels and opportunity to invest in impactful new tech companies, both from the Oxford Cluster and the wider UK, all under one roof. Potential opportunities will include a diverse range of tech firms, from innovative software startups to deep tech university spinouts. The merged business will be branded as OION (incorporating OAN), with OAN members invited to transfer their membership to OION.
Oxford Investment Opportunity Network (OION) was established in 1994 as one of the UK’s first business angel networks. We link qualified Investors (High Net Worth, Sophisticated and Institutional) to companies with high growth potential.
Thames Valley Investment Network (TVIN) was established in 2003 targeting companies with a focus on first mover advantage and technology including FMCG, web, digital media and green-technology. Companies are typically seeking investment between £150k to ~£750k.
Oxford Early Investments (OEI) provides an early opportunity for investors to view high quality, selected proposals that offer high growth potential. The Network has strong links with providers of new deal flow including universities, research institutes, large companies and individual entrepreneurs undertaking development of innovative ideas. Companies are typically seeking investment of £100k to ~£250k.
Following the success of the OION 2015 & 2016 SEIS Funds, OION Ltd continued the collaboration with Innvotec for the launch and development of the OION Fund - investing in to both EIS & SEIS qualifying companies.
